"Regulation und Manipulation von biologischer Informationsübertragung in dynamischen Protein-
und Lipidumgebungen"

The Collaborative Research Center SFB 645 “Regulation and manipulation of information flow within dynamic protein and lipid environments” was an interdisciplinary research initiative of the University of Bonn funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2005 to 2016. 20 research projects and 11 research institutes participated in the SFB 645.

Key objectives of this initiative were to study the role of lipid metabolizing enzymes in controlling membrane composition and cellular metabolism, to analyse the dynamics and organization of membrane proteins and to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that control membrane trafficking. The research programme was composed of three project sections:

  • Project Section A: "Biological and chemical modulation of membrane molecule function and dynamics"

  • Project Section B: "Genetic and biochemical manipulation of the lipid metabolism for the analysis of membrane protein function"

  • Project Section C: "Membrane Trafficking".
